Lama Lo!
"LAMA LO!" ensemble was established in 1999 with the support of the Ministry of Absorption in Jerusalem. "LAMA LO!"("WHY NOT!") presents a new view of traditional Jewish folklore by blending traditional klezmer music with elements of classical, jazz and Middle Eastern ethnic music, thus forming the bright individual and creative manner of the group. It consists of 6 professional musicians: Roman Kekhman virtuoso clarnetist (soloist), Yevgeniy Lyublin (Trumpet), Yuri Povolotsky (Piano, Accordion), Yakov Entin(Violin , Bass), Eduard Rezonov(Contrabass) and Anatoly Magdalinsky (Drums). Lama Lo! participated in arrangements, organized by Knesset, the President's House, and other governmental institutions, and took part in the opening of international klezmer festival in S'fat. All concerts organized by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2001 and in 2002 were a great success. Israeli television (I and II channels) recorded its concerts. The ensemble performs traditional folk music as well as that composed by the ensemble's participant, well-known Israeli composer Jury Povolotsky. In 2002, Roman Kekhman, clarinetist and soloist of the Ensemble was awarded the title of a Laureate(1 Prize) at the Competition of Jewish Music in Israel.  LAMA LO often performs together with the actress and singer Esti Svidensky(Yiddish). She was awarded the title of a Laureate at the 4 International Competitions. "LAMA LO!" has performed successfully in the best concert s hall in Israel (Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv, Haifa, Afula, Rishon Le Zion, Carmiel, Hadera etc.) and abroad (Moscow ,Minsk ,Baku, Tokio, Bangkok, Shanghai, Gong-Kong). LA-SHIR Choir
LA-SHIR CHOIR, (The Los Angeles Hebrew Choir), is a choir "dedicated to the preservation, propagation and enjoyment of Hebrew songs, new and old." The repertoire consists mainly of modern secular songs of Israel, with occasional selections of traditional Jewish songs, including Yiddish and ancient Judeo-Spanish (Ladino). The website is out of date but has contact information.

Ladinostalgia
Ladinostalgia, an 18-voiced choir based in Jerusalem, Israel, is part of the Hora Jerusalem Folklore non-profit Association. They sing a special repertoire of Ladino songs arranged for choir, as well as Hebrew and other multi-cultural songs from Israel. They often represent the City of Jerusalem at cultural events.

Lenka Lichtenberg
Yiddish singer living in Canada, Lenka has been involved with Yiddish music for years. Her arrangements are really quite unusual and satisfying. Lenka was raised in Prague, and her musical training included theater work and vocal training at the Prague Conservatory. Her album "Deep Inside," which has received excellent reviews, is featured on the website. Many of the "lyrics deal with 'Jewish' topics: misunderstandings between observant/less observant Jews, the role of Yiddish, finding one's Jewish identity, and issues from Israel." Her new CD is "Peace Offerings".

Ruth Levin
Singer and actress. Ruth Levin is a leading Israeli vocalist of Jewish music. Ms. Levin is the daughter of Leibu Levin, a well-known Yiddish composer and actor, with whom she performed in stage theater and concerts from a young age. Her programs consist mostly of Yiddish songs, many of which are written to the finest Yiddish poetry.

Allan Lieberman
Jewish holiday songs for kids and educational workshop. "In the 70's and 80's Allan Lieberman sold advertising and then real estate. In the 1990's he tossed away his briefcase and three-piece suit and picked up his guitar and began writing songs. Since then he has written over 200 tunes; everything from serious to satire; as well as songs for kids and the young at heart. He has entertained throughout the country for children, families and adults. Allan's concerts are interactive, enthusiastic and FUN. He has produced four full length recordings and his most recent, It's The Miracle, was honored by Parent's Choice Magazine with their prestigious Gold Award. Allan has travelled throughout the country, singing to children at pre-school camps as well as resident camps."

Listen Up! A Cappella
A Chicago-based singing group, they bill themselves as the only "pop-klezmer-jazz-yiddish-hebrew-country-western band". Their site provides some sound clips and information about this group of five young singers. Very upbeat sound.

Lazar Lloyd
Currently based in Beit Shemesh, Israel, American-born guitarist and orthodox religious singer whose music is American folk and blues. His influences are Folk, Blues, Country. His first High School bands were influenced by Neil Young, Willy Nelson, Bob Dylan, Stevie Ray. He majored in Music at Skidmore College in upstate NY and started an original band, The Last Mavericks. Released Higher Ground CD in 2004. People can order the CD from Cdbaby --which is really a blues album with a "Jewish twist". Lloyd is known worldwide as the lead guitar and harmonica player for the only Jewish Jam Band-- Reva L' Sheva. Some have compared his guitar playing to Eric Clapton. Lazer hosted the Tel Aviv Bluesfest and toured in Berlin in 2004. He then toured America and Canada in 2005.

London Jewish Male Choir
London group founded in 1926 and continuing to perform regularly throughout the UK. The choir has performed in the USA, Germany, Ireland, South Africa and Poland as well as Israel. There is a photo gallery and member bios. The group has a CD called "For All These Things". The website includes an incredibly helpful list of scores the group has used. They have a database which lists the composer,name of piece, arranger, category of use, and their latest performance pieces. Unfortunately, in order to view the scores, you must load a capella software into your computer.

London Unplugged
Album, "London Unplugged" has been released, and the group has a website: Music by Yisroel Lamm and songs composed by Yoel Calek. Other members are Dovid-Zvi Calek, and Motti and Shloimie Richman. The website provides information for purchasing their CD, but not much information about the group. There is a guest book and visitors can leave questions for group members.

Los Angeles Jewish Symphony
The Los Angeles Jewish Symphony is a professional organization that performs serious works by Jewish composers or music based on Jewish themes. Under the direction of Noreen Green, the group scheduled four major performances in the 1999-2000 season. The website offers concert schdules and ticket information, contact information and a list of officers.

Los Angeles Zimriyah Chorale
"The Los Angeles Zimriyah Chorale was founded in 1997 by Cantor Ira Bigeleisen and Rand Harris. LAZC has been invited to perform in venues throughout the world and continues its mission of bringing Jewish music, particularly music written by Southern California Jewish composers, to audiences in America and abroad." The website includes a history of the group, a list of performances, a calendar, and a listing of recording projects. The Chorale is available for performances and travels world wide. Nick Strimple, the music director, is also a composer, scholar and author on choral music.

Los Pasharos Sefaradis A singing group from Istanbul, Turkey that specializes in Sephardic music. They have been acclaimed as quite authentic in terms of Sephardic and Ladino (Judeo-Spanaish) music. The website is in Turkish and English and gives information about the performers and their CDs. Real Audio files give samples of their music. Members of the group have advanced degrees in Judeo-Spanish culture and come from the academic as well as performance side of the culture.
